The library includes a wide range of comedic sounds from authentic helium choir (yeah – we sucked down a whole tank of 2He) to drum kits from snow- and ice sounds – from human beat box through PVC ensembles to manipulation of childrens balloons – from glockenspiel to sleighbells etc.

The Jew’s harp, jaw harp, mouth harp, or Ozark harp, trump and juice harp, is thought to be one of the oldest musical instruments in the world; a musician apparently playing it can be seen in a Chinese drawing from the 4th century BC. Despite its common English name, and the sometimes used Jew’s trump, it has no particular connection with the Jewish people or Judaism. This instrument is native to Asia and used in all tribes of Turkish people in Asia where it is variously referred to as a temir komuz, agiz komuzu or gubuz. The instrument is known in many different cultures by many different names. The common English name “Jew’s Harp” is controversial and is avoided by many speakers. Another name used to identify the instrument, especially in scholarly literature, is the older English trump, while guimbarde, derived from the French word for the instrument, can be found in unabridged dictionaries and is featured in recent revival efforts.

The Bamboo Overtone flute is like a little sibling to the Eastern European, Fujara. However the flute is distinctively different and almost human like in the sense it only has two holes. The flute is played by muting the bottom of the flute with your palm and bending the note. The overtones are generated by playing softer or harder in the flute and actually allows it to spand over four octaves. The sound is best described as ethnic/ethereal, but with that very distinct overtone charm to it. We sampled the hell out of it by multi-sampling the overtones in sustains and staccato and by doing over +350 BPM (80-140) based phrases on top of this and with additional FX sections.

In much the same way that the rain stick harnesses the essence of rain, the Sand Drum harnesses the essence of the entire ocean; hundreds of quintillions of gallons of water. The unique surf-like sound is produced by a medium-sized enclosed drum about 1 1/4″ thick and filled with dozens of tiny silver metal beads. When gently rocked and rotated in a circular motion, the sand drum produces an amazing tidal effect, like waves ebbing and flowing. In addition to the ambient effects it creates, the sand drum, being a “drum” is also a unique percussion instrument offering a variety of different percussive elements. All core hit articulations were recorded at 10 x round robin.

The Spirit Flute is originally an instrument played by Native Americans. It has been used in countless New Age and World Music recordings and is known for its distinctive and at times – almost haunting sound. The instrument was originally played without accompaniment in courtship, healing, meditation, and spiritual rituals. Now it is played solo, along with other instruments or vocals, or with backing tracks both in Native American music and in other styles. Microhammer sampled a high-quality, upper range Spirit Flute. The flute has a beautiful, soft, high-pitched tone. The pressure of air blown into the flute dictates its octave levels and the library covers a lot of the typical multi-octave FX phrases commonly heard in soundtracks.

Forged from firey furnaces unknown, this masterfully crafted piece of visual art’s true treasures lie within. No, not deep inside the massive belly of this beast but rather in it’s ability when agitated to move air in mysterious and pleasantly surprising ways. This giant clay vase was chosen specifically for it’s unique sound and tonal resonance. Producing a wide variety of sounds, this clay drum is a both a percussive and melodic instrument. Ranging from the tonal merimbaesque sounds of the Bottom, to the tablalike deep impacts of the Head, to the sharp percussive attack of the Neck, the array of sounds covered by the clay drum are perfect for creating or accenting any track both melodically and percussively. This library includes custom front-panel controls and modwheel automation to allow pitch adjustment of up to +/- 24 semitones, as well as room wetness re-shaping, going from tight and close to full and lush.

Water Percussion Vol. 1 covers a variety of percussive elements purely made with water. The library includes drum kits made with water drops to cymbals clashed against water surfaces, from slapping wet concrete to comprehensive water human beat boxing. The end result is the first library ever developed that truly sounds wet without any additional reverb. No seriously … Water Percussion is highly experimental and for people that want another texture to their music and grooves. Its wet wienerschnitzel like you never heard before.
