The Zither has a rough and dirty sound, often described as “mellow”. We handled the Concert Zither harshly: We plucked, stroked and strummed all the strings to get every possible sound, noise and articulation the Zither can produce. Finally, we assembled six different patches. The Concert Zither is a perfect supplement to all the other Strings instruments: rare and unique.
We placed the awe-inspiring Yamaha CFX Concert Grand Piano in Abbey Road Studio One, where award-winning engineers used the world’s greatest microphones and equipment to create a stunning virtual instrument library. The resulting product, the CFX Concert Grand, set new standards for virtual pianos. The CFX Lite is a subset of the CFX Concert Grand that retains all of the expressive detail of the original by providing the full power of the Close Classic mic perspective.
Yamaha Concert Vibraphone sampled in a dry studio environment in Budapest + Traditional techniques (4 different hit & tremolo instruments played with soft and hard sticks, string bow, and brush + 3 velocity layers from piano to forte + 5 octaves / instruments + 18 GUI controls including tremolo control + Recorded with 2 x AT35 (Mid Mix) + Shure SM57 (Close Mix) on Universal Audio Apollo X + All GUI elements are MIDI learnable
This is a light version of the Vienna Concert Grand piano library. This instrument is based on a Bosendorfer 290 Imperial. It originally appeared in the Akoustik Piano software. Despite its age, I think it’s still quite a useful piano library, especially because it has those 9 notes below A0 going to C0, giving it a full 8-octave range. The samples in the original release were in 24-bit 44.1kHz WAV format. The samples were converted to 16-bit files. A null test with the original samples results in a peak of -87dB, which won’t be audible by any means! The samples were converted to KONTAKT’s proprietary NCW format, and then packed into NKX containers for convenience. The result is a reduction in size of around 82%, and space savings of 2.4GB!

It originally appeared in the Native Instruments Akoustik Piano software. Despite its age, I think it’s still quite useful as a lightweight piano library.
