Boscomac has released Memory Stick 20, a free Native Instruments Reaktor ensemble based on drum sounds which were crafted with the Korg MS-20 synthesizer.
MEMORY STICK 20 is a beatbox sample-based on MS20 mini analog synth. Sounds from the legendary synthesizer were carved to get a kick, a snare, a clave, etc.
Memory Stick 20 is available for free download via Boscomac (1.1 MB download size, contains 1 instrument in ENS format for NI Reaktor).
The instrument supports multiple audio outputs (a very important feature for me!) and it complies with the GM standard for drum instruments. You can use the graphical interface to tweak the basic parameters such as decay and pitch, as well as to apply tape saturation.
Each recorded drum sample has been processed with analog audio gear, in order to add character and color. Judging by the quality of Boscomac’s previous work, this one is a must have for drum machine lovers who own Reaktor!
To give you a basic idea of how Korg MS-20 drums would sound, here’s an interesting video about synthesizing a snare drum on this analog synthesizer:
